e a layton counselling - Elizabeth

Introduction
Hello, my name is Elizabeth. I am a qualified counsellor offering a confidential, non judgemental and empathetic counselling service. My counselling approach is person centred but I do use various methods to best suit my clients needs as appropriate.
I work with individuals, couples and families usually from my Broadwaters practice. I understand sometimes that it is difficult to travel and can arrange for visits to your own home if you live locally. In this ever changing world where our lives are getting busier or we live and work away from home, it is difficult to see a counsellor face to face sometimes and so I also offer email, telephone, and online counselling as an alternative. Please feel free to browse my website for more information.

Credentials
I have gained a Diploma in Counselling with the Natural Institute of Healing and I am a registered member with BABCP. I have attended certified courses in drug and substance misuse and domestic violence as part of my ongoing professional development. I have also attended child protection courses as part of ongoing training courses provided by volunteer agencies I have worked with. I have spent many years gaining experience in working with families with young children through Home Start and working with teenagers experiencing difficulties within school through the Mentor Link program. I also spent time phone counselling for women with postnatal depression.
I now advocate for women who have experienced or are experiencing IPSA (Intimate Partner Sexual Abuse, also known as IPSV) It was once known narrowly as marital rape. Of course it is not known as that now as both gay and lesbian couples also experience this type of abuse. But it is an unfortunate fact that a high percentage are women experiencing this particular type of abuse from their male partners. If you have or are experiencing Intimate Partner Sexual Abuse please don't hesitate to contact me for sensitive caring counselling on this issue.
Due to my own recent experience I now also counsel on Bell's Palsy. although not life threatening it can be very distressing while it lasts. Sometimes it is just good to be able to talk to someone about this experience who understands and find support.
