Introduction

Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy, an energy which is all around us.
Reiki is the word we use in the west for a system of natural healing which was rediscovered in Japan from the experience and dedication of Dr Mikao Usui.Fired by a burning question, Dr Usui was inspired to develop this healing system from ancient teachings after many years of study, research and meditation. He spent the rest of his life practising and teaching Reiki. Today Reiki continues to be taught by Reiki Masters such as myself who have trained in the tradition passed down from Master to student.
Reiki is a natural, simple, safe, effective healing system that uses universal life force energy, the energy which permeates our entire universe and all living things. This energy is channeled through the hands of the practitioner into the body and aura of the receiver. It is an ancient healing system that has been used for thousands of years.
We all have physical, mental, spiritual and emotional layers and reiki is wonderful in that it works in each of these levels as it works to heal not only the symptoms but also their deeper cause, as all our stress, worry, pains and illness are present in the etheric body before they manifest in the physical.
